When I first got an apartment, I found what sparked joy inside me: a curtain that displayed aqua/turquoise colors, with soft diamond-like patterns. Very calming to see everyday. I also got metal S shaped hooks that were black/gold rustic-looking to hold it up in front of the liner. Those hooks worked for a while until they literally began rusting because of the daily heat and water from the shower. So it was back to plastic ones. I still have the curtain, but my husband was tired of it and got a silly Nigel Thornberry themed one to be funny. SIGH!
Then we moved into the trailer, and I found a shower liner that I can wash every time I clean the shower! This way I don’t need to keep buying liners that get moldy and throwing them away. I can reuse this one for as long as possible!
It’s less than $20 at Walmart: Waterproof Ultimate Shield Gray Fabric Shower Curtain Liner (from Better Homes and Gardens).
And because it is not see-through, it acts as a curtain, as it is fabric on one side. So that is a win-win! (I try to keep it spread out to dry after. It still leans on the tub, but ideally it would be perfect if I could move the heading pipe inward a little, then the curtain wouldn’t touch anything wet.)
I plan to keep using this kind of shower liner to save money. When we get a house, we will see options for the kind of tubs/showers we wish to have going forward (if they come with glass doors even). Then I will see if I want decorative curtains or not.
