For his birthday, my husband received a gift from his brother: a stainless steel razor! I was already on my journey of reducing waste and wanted to try it too. So I bought a pink one!
Growing up with disposable razors, it cost more for the smooth, comfortable one that didn’t cut you. Then it wouldn’t last long and be thrown into the trash! Now that I have a stainless steel razor, I haven’t needed a disposable razor in years!
Instructions:
– I basically just twist the razor parts off the stem to get the old blade out to put a new one in, but being careful and going slow because the blade is sharp! When I feel the blade is too dull, that is when I change it. I don’t change the blade often because I don’t shave as much. (I’ve always been more comfortable wearing pants.) But noticed that it can get a little moldy what with being near water all the time and it isn’t used. So that’s something to watch for.
When shaving, I try to go slow and steady, because I do cut myself especially at the ankles and knees! I rinse the razor every few strokes, as you would, to make room to get more hair. I go extra slow under the arms, up and down and sideways to get everything!
It came with a soap cream to use, but I have always just preferred to use my bar soap. I’m too lazy to use any cream! I save money too by not buying those tall cans of shaving cream. For zero-waste purposes, I should probably use it up before it expires!
I found these suction silicone holders that stick to the tub wall! I located them on the opposite side of the shower head, away from any water. There are many holders out there to choose from!
I am very happy with this choice. I save money and reduce waste literally!
