I collected a bunch of movies (VHSs and DVDs), mostly Disney movies and delightful others. Eventually I had to go through and keep what I wanted the most, because I just had way too much!
I ended up dividing them into two categories: G/PG and PG13/mature. I put the G/PG on the shelf for my children and boxed PG13/mature for later.
I am very sentimental with physical VHSs (and DVDs) because I grew up recording and watching my favorite cartoons. I was also very savvy with the VCR! Plus, the original castle openings on the Disney VHSs were always very magical for me. NOW with firestick and subscriptions, there is not a need to collect DVDs much anymore and of course VHSs are pretty much obsolete.
So I plan to honor my sentimentalism by seeing how much we use them, if at all, as my kids grow older and technology keeps improving. If we never use the VHSs and DVDs, then I will get rid of most of them. Again, as I get older, I don’t care as much because things will continue to change.
